Grab your wellies everyone! Tuesday afternoon, Glastonbury Festival of Contemporary and Performing Arts announced their first lineup for 2015. Said to be the Coachella equivalent of the UK, this star-packed festival is set to take place June 24th-28th in Glastonbury, UK. Foo Fighters and Kanye West will for sure be headlining, though we’re still waiting to hear who the third headliner will be.
I’m super happy to see acts like George Ezra, Catfish & The Bottlemen, Hozier, Rudimental, Jungle, La Roux, Circa Waves, Alabama Shakes, Mary J. Blige, Florence & The Machine, Charli XCX, Rae Morris, Ben Howard and Run The Jewels, just to name a few. It’s set to be a good time for sure!
Headlining act, Kanye West made news a few weeks back as fans were outraged that the festival chose to include him in their festivities. Unfortunately, Mr. West has a large population of haters which inspired this change.org petition titled, Cancel Kanye West’s headline slot and get a rock band, in order to remove him from the star-studded lineup. Petition signers shared their anger on the subject via the change.org site:
It doesn’t look like the petition will have an effect on the festival, though it has managed to receive 133,475 signatures thus far with a goal of 150,000.
All together though, this lineup looks great! We’ll have to wait a bit longer for the third headliner and maybe a few other surprise artists along the way.
Are you headed to the festival this June? Who are you looking forward to seeing the most? Let me know in the comments.
