Record Store Day 2018 has been announced! In the midst of all the crazy festival lineups launching over the last 2 weeks, vinyl enthusiasts, mark your calendars and save some bills for RSD18 on Saturday, April 21st.

If you’re not familiar with Record Store Day…

“Record Store Day was conceived in 2007 at a gathering of independent record store owners and employees as a way to celebrate and spread the word about the unique culture surrounding nearly 1400 independently owned record stores in the US and thousands of similar stores internationally. The first Record Store Day took place on April 19, 2008. Today there are Record Store Day participating stores on every continent except Antarctica.” ~ RSD Website

Still no news yet on who will be the official Record Store Day 2018 Ambassador, previously Jack White, Dave Grohl, Ozzy Osbourne + more have carried the torch. News about last year’s representative, St. Vincent, was announced on February 10, 2017 so we we shouldn’t have to wait too much longer. Thoughts? Hopes? Who’s face will grace the official RSD seal?

RSD is a special day for music fans to go out and support their local music shops with exclusive vinyl and CD releases + special promo items made just for RSD. Depending on your local shop, you can expect to see all-day events which include shopping, local performances, contests, cook-outs, meet & greets, + more!

The exclusive vinyl and CD list being offered on RSD is usually released prior to the day so fans can filter through and decide on their must-haves. Be sure to arrive early if you have your eye on something because items go fast! Like REALLY fast, people were camping out last year… You can check out the RSD archives to get an idea of premium items that have been offered in past years.

I’ve been participating in Record Store Day since 2015 and love going out each year and meeting music fans from all walks of life. I’ve even seen some people make a day of it with their friends and rent a party bus to hit multiple record shops across town.

You can find out what record stores near you are participating in Record Store Day 2018 on the RSD website by typing in your city or zip code. For those of you in Dallas like me, you can find RSD being celebrated at the shops below.

Let me know in the comments below if you plan on participating in RSD this year. What records are you on the hunt for?
