Trading in Doncaster, UK for Dallas, TX, 20 year-old Yungblud, aka Dominic Harrison, showed us what the epitome of putting on a live show in 2018 is about.
Releasing his debut EP earlier this year, Yungblud’s set Wednesday night at Granada Theater included each song from the EP, a few unreleased numbers, plus a bountiful amount of energy. Every once in a while, you find a band with a lead singer that is a true performer. There’s nothing boring about this guy. Channeling a bit of 80s dance pop/Matty Healy/Twenty One Pilots & the with the help of some hot pink tube socks, Yungblud is a melting pot of youth, purpose, and relevance.
Kicking off the trip to Dallas, the boys of Yungblud got up to some “bad boy” antics over at the Southern Methodist University library as students attempted to study for finals, accompanied by an acoustic performance of I Love You, Will You Marry Me. Unfortunately, the librarians and campus police weren’t big fans of these UK Anarchists… gotta get that promo though!
It was an entirely different scene at Granada Theater later that night as young fans danced and screamed as Harrison jumped, kicked, and kissed his way through his set. The room was roaring with “wow(s)” and “holy shit dude” surpassing over the bottle clinks at the bars.’ Yungblud definitely picked up a few fans at this show and left us wanting more…
Here’s a clip from his closing number-

What’s next for this young talent? A debut album, a solo tour across the U.S., some U.S. festival dates? All things I hope to see over the next year as this band continues to tour and blow up. Yungblud is it. The real deal.
