A flock of screaming teenage girls fills the room Tuesday night at Granada Theater. Their parents magnetized to the bars in the back of the room where they conversate or play Candy Crush on their phones. However… those parents scored some major parenting points from their kids as global sensation, Bille Eilish and her musical brother, Finneas take to the Dallas stage for the first time on the 1 By 1 Tour.
Serenading the crowd, girls swoon as Finneas played his newest single Let’s Fall In Love For The Night. Telling the stories of heartbreak from a girl that moved away to college, Finneas played Break My Heart Again, along with a few new tunes he’s been working on lately.
“Normally on the road, Billie and I song write each day because we’re working on her album. Today, she had a Dr.’s appointment so I wrote this one by myself. Can I play it for you?”
Closing his set with I’m In Love Without You, heavy synth with synchronized lights filled the theater as Finneas marinated in the spotlight for one last tune before passing the baton over to his sister.
The clock strikes 9 and the sold out room explodes with anticipation at the band walks out onto the stage. Suddenly, Billie emerges in an over-sized sweatshirt and sneakers. Singing My Boy and jumping across the spider prop stage, it was as if I had suddenly walked into a One Direction or 5 Seconds of Summer concert. THE CROWD KNEW EVERY SINGLE WORD AND YELLED IT AT THE TOP OF THEIR LUNGS.
Honestly, Billie could have been lip-synching and the crowd probably wouldn’t have even noticed. But that’s not Billie’s style, nor does she need the help of computers or autotune to produce perfect vocals. Billie can play to a crowd of 40,000 at festivals, but those lucky enough to score a ticket to her sold out show in Dallas caught a much more intimate set with a room of 1,000.
Singing all her hits like Bellyache, &burn, and Ocean Eyes, Bille’s astounding energy beamed from wall to wall. Her older brother, Finneas plays in her band as well and harmonizes on most tunes. The duo surprised the crowd with a few choreographed numbers throughout the night. You couldn’t help but smile and wonder what their family nights are like around the holidays. Always a good time Bille…
“This is my last song. I’m not coming out for an encore because I’ve literally sang EVERY song I have.”
It’s amazing to look back at the year this young artist has had, and there’s no signs of her slowing down anytime soon. World look out for THE Billie Eilish.
