I went out to Lone Star Park at Grand Prairie this week to check out the premiere night of Amaluna presented by Cirque du Soleil, the latest production under the Big Chapiteau to hit DFW. Crowds whispered with excitement as we entered the complex under the large Amaluna tunnel and entered into a world of contortionists and unbelievable strength.
About The Show
From Cirque du Soleil’s website, Amaluna is a mysterious island ruled by Goddesses. After directing her daughter’s coming of age ceremony, honoring femininity, renewal, rebirth and balance, Queen Prospera causes a storm. A group of young men wash up on the isle, triggering an epic love story between Prospera’s daughter and a brave young suitor. Theirs is a love that will be tested.
The lobbies were sprinkled with Dallas’ best of the best as vendors passed out champagne and popcorn while folks posed next to the many Amaluna photo op screens. Everyone ushered into the stage arena as the emcee announced the show would be starting shortly.
Without giving too much away, the show was glittered with strength, beauty, and acrobatic wonder as cast members wowed the crowd with aerial straps, tetterboards, uneven bars, a magical waterbowl and so much more. The all female band was a great touch for this super crew of female Wonder Woman.
I love that Cirque du Soleil shows are great for the whole family. Cast members interact with the crowd throughout the show and no one leaves without a smile on their face. It truly is a show everyone can enjoy.
Amaluna presented by Cirque du Soleil is runing now through March 3rd at Lone Star Park at Grand Prairie. Grab your tickets and start stretching now!
