Pop music has really thrived in 2020 and I’m celebrating as many contributions as possible. Upbeat, dance music has been such a light in this cloudy year and it’s personally been such an uplifting and constant mood changer. You can’t sit still and not smile while listening to this week’s track picks.
Here’s what I’m listening to this week…
Love Of Your Life- RAYE
Back in July, I fell in love with British singer and songwriter RAYE’s track Natalie Don’t, and she doesn’t hold back any pop flair with her latest release Love Of Your Life.
Forever Isn’t Long Enough- Alfie Templeman
my hair- Ariana Grande
Ariana Grande dropped her 6th studio album, Positions on October 30th and it’s full of instant bangers. my hair has a fun R&B vibe and honestly reminds me of some of the jazz/funk influence from her late boyfriend, Mac Miller and some of their collaborations. Bonus on this track, do not miss that impeccable falsetto at the end, wowza…
Come Over- Rudimental feat. Anne-Marie & Tion Wayne
Lie Like This- Julia Michaels
Loving this new dance track sound for Julia Michaels. Ever since seeing her live show in 2019, I’ve been hooked to her clever and witty songwriting. ‘Lie Like This‘ proves she has a stronghold in the pop world after her summer viral hit with boyfriend JP Saxe, If The World Was Ending.
Heartbeat- Middle Part
Back in September, I discovered Brooklyn-based indie-pop artist Middle Part and his first single & Cry, and since, I’ve forced all my friends to listen to. Such a bop. Heartbeat is the second release off his upcoming EP, out later this year. The descending drums at 2:54 knocked me over the first time I heard this one. Give him a follow on socials, and keep your eyes peeled for that EP announcement, promise you won’t regret it.
Moment- Dagny
Fever- Dua Lipa & Angèle
2020 has been Dua Lipa’s year. First releasing her second studio album Future Nostalgia in March, a remix album called Club Future Nostalgia in August with features from Madonna, Missy Elliott + more, and now a new steamy single with Belgian singer-songwriter Angèle.
Morocco- Alina Baraz feat. 6LACK (Devault Remix)
